Horizon is an easily delivered programme directly to end-users who choose to take it up via their mobile phones (+/- internet). It is based on proven behaviour change theory and techniques, and evidence-based effective weight management components that have not previously been delivered via mobile/smart phones.

A mobile health weight management plan suitable for use in an ethnically diverse population. The Horizon weight management programme is based on core behaviour change techniques: self-monitoring of behaviour; prompting intention formation; promoting specific goal setting; providing feedback on performance; promoting review of behavioural goals. An important focus is the small steps approach as recent findings suggest that it is more motivating for people to set small short-term goals that they can successfully achieve instead of failing large long-term goals. Small steps are also more likely to evolve into a sustainable healthy lifestyle. The Horizon programme has been tested in a pilot with 50 participants.
