Considerable amount of dyeing wastewater is released from different industries, which has caused serious environmental issues including hazardous compounds emissions and disruption of biological balance in water bodies. This project aims to develop a novel ozone catalytic oxidation-based water treatment technology for decomposition of organic compounds. In this proposed technology, organic compounds can be effectively oxidized/decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by the synergistic effects of ozone, nanocatalysts and mesoporous adsorbent with three-dimensional pore structure. The mesoporous adsorbent can enhance transport, adsorption and catalytic oxidation of the organic compounds, thereby further improving the decomposition/removal efficiency. The outcomes of this research will lead to a highly removal-efficient system for decomposition of organic compounds that can operate at a wide range of organic compounds concentrations.
- 技術優勢
-
•Combination of adsorption, ozonation and catalytic oxidation, reducing cost and enhancing organic compounds decomposition/removal efficiency
•Use of mesoporous adsorbent with three-dimensional pore structure that can enhance mass transport, adsorption and catalytic oxidation of the organic compounds in the proposed technology
•Decompose organic compounds into carbon dioxide and water for less environment pollution and energy consumption

This technology not only helps to improve the water quality, but also create a new industry for the manufacturers in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. Many manufacturing companies in dyestuffs, textile, rubber, paper, leather, plastics, toys and cosmetics industry are our target user group. This study will also help wastewater equipment manufacturers to apply a new technology to product design and wastewater treatment system manufacturing.
