Transflective Liquid Crystal Display半透性雙層扭曲向列(TN)液晶體顯示器

總結: Display is a large yet still rapidly expanding market, especially for flat-panel display which is tremendously important and will soon become a dominating segment of the display industry. However, current liquid crystal display types: transmissive LCD and reflective LCD are having serious problems with the light source and power consumption.

A novel technique based on transflective LCDs has been developed to overcome such problems, allowing good legibility under any ambient light environment. Utilizing two liquid crystal layers in this device and the accurate angle of twist of the liquid crytal molecules, excellent images with a large viewing angle can be produced. With the use of this invention, the colour dispersion of the LCD display unit is minimized and thus high contrast of either black and white or coloured display images can be acquired.

This invention can display sharp images even in the dark, therefore it overcomes the problem of bright backlight device requirement occurring in transmissive LCD. It also solves the shortcoming of reflective LCD which displays poorly during night or under weak ambient lighting.
