Our inventors have developed a modified protocol to convert human skin fibroblast into neurons using readily available medium from the vendor. These neurons aredirectly converted without going through iPSCs and without using any expensive neurotrophic factors. In addition to the lower cost, we have also seen reduction intime (6-8 days post selection) to obtain induced neurons in culture. This method will be crucial in advancing the development of ex-vivo assays to help discover new therapies for AlzheimerΓÇÖs disease.
