*Abstract
The major surgical challenge for burn wounds is wound cover and healing. Tissue-engineered grafts, both naturaland synthetic, have been transplanted in the patient’s body to enhance healing. However, this technique is limitedby disparity between burned and unburned tissue, number of harvests at one site to three to four, and the timerequired for tissue re-epithelialization. Cell therapy is an emerging strategy to replace or repair severely damagedtissues with cultured cells. However, structural supports are required for cells to form the tissue. Another challengefor cultured autografts is bacterial contamination. Therefore, control of infection is as valuable as cover skin wounddefects. We hypothesize that growing stem cells on biodegradable, and bacterial inhibiting microparticles (MPs) insuspension cover the wound site in a single step, minimize the time of tissue regeneration through stem celldifferentiation, and avoid infection.
