- *Abstract
-
Researchers at Nationwide Children's hospital have identified an approach which uses a pacifier-activated device to play parents' voice in response to infant sucking. This device is commercially available and easy to use by nurses and therapists alike. The containment holding approximates an approach shown to improve muscle function, infant neuroregulation, parent-infant bonding, and deep sleep. Preliminary data suggest that the combination of these two approaches may improve multisensory cortical processing in perterm infants.
