- APPLICATIONS: This is a novel innovation applicable to the high-efficiency solar cell market.PROBLEMSADDRESSED:This innovation is designed to improve themarket share for high-efficiency solar cells with a low development and marketcost with comparable efficiency in comparison to high-efficiency solar cellscurrently on the market.TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION:This is atechnological method involving photoinitiators and a passivated interface of organicmolecules. The interface is designed to coat silicon wafers and change theelectronic structure at the surface to ultimately allow electrons or holes totransport across the organic layer to a conducting layer. When exposed to lightand radiation of a specific range of energy, the photoinitiators are able toreact with the silicon surface, consequently.STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT: Prototype development and testing areunderway along with ongoing research.
