Convenient Optical Design for Multiphoton Microscopy Incorporation into Medical Endoscopy Instrumentation

This invention involves the excitation and collection optics for multiphoton endoscopy. The design includes two illumination pathways, one for high magnification, high spatial resolution multiphoton imaging using near IR laser light and the other for low magnification, low spatial resolution imaging of reflected and scattered light using white light illumination. The design further includes either one common detection path or two separate, essentially concentric detection paths for the multiphoton excited signal and the reflected and/or scattered white light.
