*Abstract
This invention introduces a novel technique for detecting the presence of super regenerative receiver (SRR). SRRs are widely used in remote controlled toys, wireless door bells, etc. by using modulated stimulation. The power level of the unintended emissions is increased by actively stimulating an SRR, which results in further robustness in detection capabilities from a longer distance. However, power measurements are susceptible to the presence of any other signal within the frequency band resulting in false positive or missed detections. This invention is an alternative technique to power measurements. This technique utilizes the fact that the frequency of the SRR quench oscillator is dependent on the power of the stimulating signal. The SRR is stimulated with an amplitude modulated signal which causes the emissions to become frequency modulated. The recorded emissions are then frequency demodulated and correlated with the modulating signal for a robust detection. This detection technique provides a higher probability of detection with lower probability of false or missed detections.
