*Abstract

*Background
Chiralmetamaterials (CMTM), especially double-negative (DNG) metamaterials havereceived much attention in recent years due to their numerous potentialapplications in various industrial uses including making antireflection coatings,microwave and optoelectronic technologies, chemical applications and biomedicalimaging [1].  CMTM can provide moreaccurate identification of the correct isomer of new drugs. Since incorrectisomers results in unwanted patient side effects, this would ensure onlycorrect chirality drugs are administered to patients for a given medicalcondition. Current optical instrumentation for making measurements forhigh throughput, high information content screening of chemical compounds toselect specific  drugs for furtherdevelopment possess severe limitations. Using novel CMTMs would uniquelyovercome this information limitation, thus enabling collection of much higherinformation content from drug screening tests. However, for drug testing andbiomedical imaging, CMTM’s need to be tunable and cost-effective.
