VMD is a molecular visualization program for displaying, animating, and analyzing large biomolecular systems using 3-D graphics and built-in scripting.
VMD was developed by the Theoretical and Computational Biophysics Group under direction of Prof. Klaus Schulten in collaboration with other faculty and laboratories at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The latest stable version is available free of charge for non-commercial use by individuals, academic institutions and corporations for in-house business purposes.

Select “Download VMD” link from the left hand side, and from the “Download VMD” page, select the version of the software you are interested in. You will be prompted to register (or login with your credentials) in order to review and accept the license, and to then receive access to software.
