Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are used in outdoor billboards, traffic signs, and portable electronic devices including smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. When these devices are not being used to display information, the displays provide no other functionality. The LED market is a $4.34 billion industry according to Frost and Sullivan, and with growth expected to continue, there is opportunity for innovation within the market.
