Method to Bond Carbon Nanotube Arrays to Glass
Researchers at Purdue University have developed a new process to bond CNT arrays to a glass layer using a combined electric field and relatively low temperatures. The novelty of the method lies in the use of relatively benign conditions to bond the CNTs and the ability to bond the CNTs without the use of chemicals. This process is envisaged to bring the CNTs in better contact with the opposing substrate, potentially leading to many desirable properties including mechanical stability and reduced thermal contact resistance.
