Polarization-Mode-Dispersion Compensation for Wideband Optical Signals
- 总结
- Researchers at Purdue University have developed a novel method that controls the polarization state of light and compensates PMD and PDL independently on a wavelength-by-wavelength basis.
- 技术优势

- *Background
- Polarization mode dispersion (PMD), as well as other polarization effects, such as polarization dependent loss (PDL), has become a key factor that limits transmission rates and distances in high-speed fiber systems. Present technology allows polarization control and compensation of first-order PMD for a single wavelength. Current solutions do not apply to situations with wideband optical signals where the PMD varies across the optical bandwidth.
