The Honeycrisp Apple, developed at the University of Minnesota, is one of the university's best known apples. Honeycrisp is grown world-wide and is famous for its sweet-tart taste and fresh, crisp, and juicy texture. In 2006, Honeycrisp was named as Minnesota's state fruit. The 2006 Better World Report named this well-loved apple as one of the top 25 inventions of the past decade.
