The invention is a modified chest compression delivery device that transitions into a cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) system seamlessly during the course of a resuscitation. In this case, mechanical chest compressions act as a therapeutic bridge, providing perfusion of the heart and organs while medical providers instrument the patient for CPB. The invention being disclosed is a portable unit coupling the traditional gas-driven compression delivery piston system with a fluid circulation system. Advantages1. Device uses mechanical chest compression drive to power cardiopulmonary bypass.2. Provides chest compression-based perfusion to the vital organs during CPB installation, at which timeit provides direct perfusion. 3. Inventors hypothesize that the simultaneous CPR/CPB will avoid the stone heart condition and may also reduce probability of blood clots due to blood dying within the chambers of the heart.Stage of Development1.
