- *Abstract
-
The inventors have synthesized novel 2', 7'-dichlorofluorescein derivatives. Some of these derivatives are very permeable toward zebrafish embryos and cultured mammalian cells and distributed homogenously. Among fluorescein derivatives, these synthetic compounds are some of the rare ones that are permeable and not localized in specific intracellular compartments. The derivatives have also exhibited unique properties to detect very low levels of palladium and platinum.Applications1. Conjugation to drugs and biomolecules to study their localization in animals and cells.2. Detection of palladium and platinum contaminates in pharmaceutical and fine chemical products.3. Low cost method to determine palladium and platinum levels at mining sites.Advantages1. High permeability2. Homogeneity in cells and embryos3. High sensitivity and low cost methods in detecting palladium and platinumStage of Development1. In vivo data are available2. Palladium and platinum sensing in pharmaceutical products and ore samples has been demonstrated.
