Researchers at Nagoya University found a novel enzyme, D-serine dehydratase, which can be used to measure the D-serine. The quantification methods consists of (1) reacting the sample with D-serine dehydratase to decompose D-serine into pyruvic acid or ammonia, (2) measuring pyruvic acid by using lactate dehydrogenase; or measuring ammonia by using pyruvate oxidase, and (3) quantifying D-serine via the data obtained in (2)
