Garment-to-Garment Recycle System (G2G system)
- 详细技术说明
- Garment-to-Garment (G2G) Recycle System is a mini-scale garment-to-garment production line that recycles post-consumer garments so that they become clean and useful. The system takes an old garment as materials to make a new one by the following processes: sanitising, opening fibre, carding, drawing, rotor spinning, doubling and twisting and, eventually, garment knitting. The whole process is environmentally friendly, uses no water nor chemicals.
The system was set up at a retail shop in a revitalised art and cultural complex in Hong Kong in 2018. The whole production line takes place in a 40-foot glass container. The double-glazed wall of the container protects the retail space from the noise generated during the recycling process. The anti-vibration and dust-controlled design minimizes the disturbance to nearby business. These features enable the G2G system to be operated within community spaces such as shopping malls.
The transparent and inviting design also allows visitors to walk around and look inside the container. Viewing the complete garment-to-garment process will demystify the garment-to-garment process and provide visitors a better understanding of the intrinsic value of the clothes.
