TOM TOM

总结

1990 in Vienna, the artist THOMAS KOSTRON breathed life into his brainchild for the first time, a little figure who was promptly christened TOMTOM.

Supported by his numerous fans, this quirky little guy soon took on a distinct life of his own.

Over time, the TOMTOM's world was also created, adding some important new heroes, namely SNAILODEMUS and TOMTOMETTE.

In the beginning, there were greeting cards. Then came classic merchandising products, such as cups, glasses, T-shirts, etc. By now you can find TOMTOM not just on textiles, paper goods, gift items, watches, automobile accessories and cosmetics, but also more and more often in the electronic entertainment world. It would seem that nowadays TOMTOM is just about everywhere, from e-cards, to animated games, not to speak of his conquest of MMS and SMS.

TOMTOM's large and loyal fan community is made up of 15 to 35-year-olds living all over the world, from Lisbon to Tokyo. South Korea and Hong Kong in particular are key fan club epicenters.

TOMTOM generated a great deal of attention and interest in Austria recently; he was featured on a series of stamps which, despite a large run, were quickly sold out.

The investment of the Austrian venture capital firm BusyAngel AG in 2005 has laid the foundation for the further rapid expansion of the TOMTOM brand.

Currently, two very interesting future projects are in the works, such as a TOMTOM feature film and a TOMTOM comical opera.

The TOMTOM Comic Opera is a co-production between “Gymnasium Vienna 9 High School of Vienna, Austria and “Beijing 171 Middle School of Beijing, China. A premiere was performed on 4 May 2006 in Multiplex Cinema, Vienna, Austria. The whole evening was a big success- the exited audience, Celebrities and Austrian politicians, along with the Chinese Ambassador and his team enjoyed the performance by the students from Beijing and Vienna.

The Austrian Broadcasting ORF and the Chinese Broadcasting company Phoenix TV (150 Million Viewers) filmed the entire performance and conducted interviews etc.

The TOMTOM Comic Opera was premiered in Beijing, China in July 2006.

The TOMTOM 90-minute feature film is under production and will be released in 2008. The next project after the feature film shall be a TV series.
