We have developed a telemedicine infrastructure for collecting, recording and viewing medical data within buildings. The system consists of servers, ZigBee receivers and medical devices with ZigBee RF modules. Whether the patient is staying in the ward or walking around, the medical data measured by the medical devices can be collected by the nearest widely distributed ZigBee receivers. The collected data is then sent from the ZigBee receivers to the servers through intranet and stored in the servers. Healthcare staff can view and monitor the medical data of patients remotely whenever needed.
Medical devices using ZigBee technology to transmit the medical data do not need to be removed when the patients move to another ward or somewhere else to receive treatment. Our system makes uninterruptible monitoring services possible.
