Hong Kong Innovations Win Big at 47th International Exhibition of Inventions
Hong Kong innovations were celebrated at the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva this past April. The largest inventions exhibition in the world, 1,000 inventions were presented at this year’s Expo.
The team from GRST Holdings winning the most honored prize at the event - Grand Prix of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation took home 17 awards, including seven Gold Medals, eight Silver Medals and two special awards, including the Grand Prix of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva which was awarded to GRST Holdings. GRST Holdings’ winning technology was WATMAR3, a water-based technology to manufacture and recycle Li-ion batteries, which could revolutionise the way energy is stored.
The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel was awarded a medal for each of its six entries, including three Gold Medals, one Silver Medal and one Bronze Medal. In addition, the project "Highly Efficient Far Infrared (FIR) Functional Textile" received a special prize from the National Research Council of Thailand.
Hong Kong Polytechnic University celebrated 18 awards in total, including four Grand Awards, two Gold Medals with the Congratulations of the Jury, three Gold Medals, two Silver Medals and seven Special Merit Awards. The projects covered a number of applications ranging from healthcare, wearable energy sources, green living, smart city, to manufacturing spectrum in textile and precise polishing, showcasing the University's distinguished capabilities and accomplishments in innovation and technology.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong earned 14 awards across the 13 projects it entered, including two Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, one Gold Medal, eight Silver Medals, two Bronze Medals and a special Prize of the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation - Romania.
Three projects from Hong Kong Baptist University were awarded a total of four medals, including a Gold Medal with the Congratulations of the Jury, a Gold Medal, a Silver Medal and a Thailand Award for the Best International Invention.
The Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) celebrated 10 technologies with a Special Prize of the Ministry of Research and Innovation Romania, 4 Gold Medals with Jury Commendation, 4 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals.
